Some dermatologists believe in an optimum cumulative dose in order for Acccutane treatment to be successful. The cumulative dose is the amount of Istotretinoin/Accutane in mg needed throughout your course to prevent future breakouts.
The Istotretinoin needed per kilogram (kg) of body weight can vary depending on a dermatologist’s opinion. In general, in-between 120-150 mg is required per kg of a patient’s body weight.
The formula to work out cumulative dose is as follows:
Body weight (kg) x 120 (typical mg used per kg of body weight) = cumulative dose
